Curriculum Requirements_Timetable Period Allotment_KHDA_2020-21

Update: 27th September 2021

We received the 2021-22 edition of the books last week. Chapters are same like the 2020-21 issues but I noticed in many places the previous mistakes have been rectified and in some places language errors also corrected, alhamdulillaah. ❤️ You can find the scanned copies of the new editions here, inShaaAllah.

For 2019-20: As expected the new editions for 2019-20 are better in language and readability, alhamdulillaah. However, there are some changes here and there with regard to page numbers and some exercises. It is good for everyone to buy the latest editions.

    Thank you

    • Wa alaikumus salam wa rahmatullah, dear sister.

The news is not confirmed. Inshaa’Allah, i will verify with the Ministry and update the information in the near future.

jazakillah Khayr for your comment and concern.

  4. Thank you for your quick response sir. Jazakallah khair, and I feel you as a warrior in the way of Almighty Allah.

Inshaa’Allah I will update the info when we get official information from the Ministry.
About the books info, please find here:
      Jazakillah Khayr.

      • thank you for your quick respone sir….I am teaching here in a pvt school and the syllabus has changed from last years..we were given a new syllabus update but unfortunately i mispalced the soft copies somewhere:(…since the school has closed for vacations i would like to prepare for the coming semesters..hence the request..can u please look into the matter and send me a link
if i remember the syllabus has been shortened…Also if it helps i teach in a CBSE based school…waiting eagerly for your reply

        • I wish that there is co-ordination and co-operation between Islamic Studies teachers through this blog, at least.
As the academic year of CBSE schools and British Curriculum schools starts and ends at different times, we sometimes find communication gap when situations like the change of books, syllabus arise.
I am working at a BC school and unfortunately we didn’t yet get the copy of the changed syllabus. All we got the info is that it is same like before.
You are saying that you got the new syllabus but unfortunately misplaced it.
Inshaa’Allah I will try to call up the Islamic Inspector through our Arabic secretary next week, and let you know the details, Inshaa’Allah.
Thank you for your comment and info. Please keep in touch, sister.

  6. I will insha Allah try to get the syllabus from other teachers…if I do get it i will send it ASAP…Hope and doing dua that Allah (SWT) will bless for our work…
    jazzakallahu Khairan

  7. assalamu alaikkum,

May Allah shower us with His blessings this Ramadan..
    Jazakallahu khairan

    • wa alaikumus salam.
Ramadhaan Mubarak to you as well 🙂
No, we didnt get a copy yet as the schools are closed and no contact with ministry people.
We made annual plan as per the old syllabus from gr 7 to 11 but we are expecting a new syllabus for gr 1 to 6.
Actually i was expecting a response from you 🙂 since you said that you will try to get it.
About the BAIS degree, we need to check it directly from the Abu Dhabi educational ministry where our degrees are attested.
May Allah accept your du’aa. Aameen.

    • Assalamu Alaikum.
Thanks for your request. But I can’t share past papers as it belongs to school.
I can only share notes which I make and own. Sorry.

    • Wa alaikumus salam wa Rahmatullah.
I am also waiting for the same 🙂
When I get the portion, Inshaa’Allah it will be uploaded.

  8. Jazak Allah khier for the provided info … Any idea if there is Teacher Guide + CDs for I love Islam …any hints based on your experience

    • Yes, there is Teacher’s Guide but it is for the old edition, not the international one.
CDs also are available but not for the new edition.

  9. Thanks bro for your prompt attention & response.. I sent a request to the publisher and check if they can deliver in UAE.. shall let you know
    salam alykum

  10. Assalaamu Alaikum,
I live in the UK which semester will be useful to use for UK Islamic Schools. I see you have two, three and four semester. Kindly clarify please.

    Br Jahid

    • Wa alaikumus salam wa Rahmatullah.
You need to find the semesters fixed in UK Schools as per the Board and then decide.
Following 3 semester system is best as per my opinion.
      Thank you for your interest.

  11. Salam Alykum and jazak allah kul khier

I wonder if you know from your experience in UAE Islamic education, whether there is “official & formal” islamic tests for students in “Arabic” per each grade/ phase based under the supervision of KHDA or other institution similar to “Islamyiat” in IGCSE but for the Arab-Education students

    • Wa alaikumus salam wa Rahmatullah, dear brother.
For Islamic studies and Arabic, there are formal-cum-official tests at the end of the year called as ‘Ministry Exam’ in Sharjah emirate.
This is conducted from gr 6 to 12. This exam is organised both for Arabic speakers as well as non-Arabic speakers.

  12. Thanks dear brother, and jazak allah khier

May I expand my request to share more information on this (where, how, website etc) as i am very interested to explore the full details of this… i wonder if Dubai is doing it as well?

Your assistance shall be always remembered

    • Before that, I would request you to first find out the details of what your school did in the past with your colleagues and old students, Inshaa’Allah.
If you are new to teaching in Dubai, the school in which you are working must provide all details.

  13. Dear Bro, the school is not doing any thing formal and no one within the school knows but heard that there is something like this happening and this is why I asked you if u can share just with me the formal site so I can go and find out personally.

  14. Assalaam

Sir I am from Al Ain, teaching Islamic Studies in a private school here.
I would like to know if there are any changes in the textbooks as well as in the syllabus of Islamic Education from grades 1-12 for the new academic year (2013-14). Please let me know as soon as possible.

    • Wa alaikumus salam wa rahmatullah.
As I mentioned above until now we didn’t get any official circular nor do I find any update in the ministry’s website about the change in syllabus. You can teach basing last year’s syllabus as the books are same. It is expected that we will get the confirmed syllabus by next week, Inshaa’Allah.
      Thank you for contacting me.
      Keep in touch, Inshaa’Allah.

  15. Assalamulalikum Sir ,
Pls can i know if you are able to complete the prescribed lessons for each grade ie complete the text nook in each grade. How many periods to you get in a week for each class.

    • Wa alaikumus salam wa Rahmatullah
We are always facing problem when it comes to Grade 6 as portion for this grade is too much!
We have 3 periods in a week for Grades 5 to 8; 2 periods for Grades 9 to 11; 4 periods for Grades 1 to 4.
We do face problems in Grades 9 to 11 as due to 2period/week schedule.

  16. Assalaamu Alaikum Br Muqith,

How do we get hold of the
    1. Islamiyat – A core text for O Level by Dr. David and Dr. Mustafa Draper, published by Oxford University Press and
2, Islamiat For Students by Farkhanda Noor Muhammad, published by Ferozsons Pvt Ltd, Pakistan.

Is there a link you can provide to get these books?

I am looking to teach the syllabus in the UK.

    Jazakhallahu khayr

    Br Jahid Ahmed

    • Wa alaikumus salaam wa Rahmatullaah
Please check out any Book Store that sell school/college books, and purchase them.
These books are available here in Sharjah and I do not know of any link.
      Thank you for contacting.

      • Assalaamu alaikum Brother,

I had a couple of questions regarding the IGCSE Islamiyat course.

What is the length of the course meaning how long does it take to deliver and prepare students for exams? A rough estimate will do as I am looking to teach the course in the UK and I understand schools may vary how long it will take.

Do you have a curriculum map to the course?

As it is a course we are looking to teach I wanted some guidance and help with understanding the deliverance of the Islamiyat course.

I hope brother I haven’t burden you too much. Just clarity inshaaAllah.

P.s feel free to email me for any clarification.

        • Wa alaikumus salam wa rahmatullah.

  28. Assalamu alaikum va rahmahullahi vabarakaathuhu,
    Dear sir,
it is totally confusing that i already uploaded my school’s term plan as per mentioned in 2014-15 syllabus.unfortunately i knew from book shop they r using separate books for each classes although some contents have been changed.for example in grade 9 in our curiculam soora alhaqa and swalathul janasa is included, but in the new text book has included different soora that is soora nuh and another different lessons also………………i am totally confused sir which one i will have to follow?

    • wa alaikumus salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu.
Please follow the old books, NOT the new books being sold in bookshops because they are not approved by the ministry.
The Ministry syllabus is based on the old books.
      Baarakallaahu feekum.

  29. salam sir i am looking for the work book of grade 9 sir please it it very urgent as my exam is day after tomorrow and i am also looking for grade 2 notes (they are not urgent)
    Baarakallaahu feekum.

  30. Assalavalekum brother,
I am a subject teacher but now i want to work as a islamic teacher in my school.I heard that for this post i need to clear few test.If possible could you plz tell me the syllabus on which i have to work to get through these test.Looking forward to hear from you.

  31. assalam o alaikum
I am totally confused now should i go with old books (combined books) or new books (separated books) for year 7,8,9,10. please help me out. Why ministry is not solving this issue? looking forward to hear from you

    • Wa alaikumus salam wa rahmatullah
You are not the only one who is confused but all who teach Islamic studies here in uae are confused!
We cannot tell for sure right now about the books.
As old books are not available in the market, people are compelled to buy new books!
Unfortunately new books do not cover all the lessons given in the syllabus which is based on old books.
So try to manage teaching from the new books but include lessons from the old books too in order to balance the syllabus.
It is tough job. Allah Kareem.

      • As a new islamic teacher in one of the schools in dubai I too suffer the same problem of sister sadia salman

        • Br. Sajeer, hope you read the reply to Sr. Sadia.
I would like to add one point here though.
Syllabus is same for CBSE Schools and all other schools following different curricula.
But the start and end of academic year is different!!
This also adds a bit to the confusion.
One more thing is there where the blame lies on the Publisher, not on the Ministry.
They published and brought in to UAE from America International Editions BEFORE the Ministry could decide or alter the syllabus or convey about the change to all schools!!
          Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah.

  32. assalam o alaikum

i also want some help for edexcel IGCSE islamiyat could you please help me out its my first time to teach islamic as an edexcel IGCSE islamiyat.

  35. I want get admission for my 4 year son in Quran Hifz School, Kindly advise me any school In Sharjah or near Sharjah Dubai.

  36. Assalamu Alaikum,

I want to ask you about the syllabus for 2015-2016, is it changed for middle school?? Please let me know so as to coordinate accordingly. I would also like to make sure that I am ordering the righht books for next academic year!!

    • Wa alaikumus salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.
Everyone is having this question, sister.
We didn’t get any syllabus for the year 2015-16 till now. When we didn’t get, it means we have to follow the old syllabus. As the problem is with the new books, and the confusion in the syllabus, I suggest that you do not place order for the purchase of books for the next academic year. Placing order now is not a good idea at all.
I hope that in mid-February we will get the syllabus InshaaAllah, and then you decide on placing orders.
Thank you for reposing confidence. Jazakillaahu Khayra.

      • Asalamualaikum.
Could you please tell me that modesty, jihaad and economic justice will come in which paper??

      Alhamdulillaah for everything.
      Nice to see you here.

You can very well use the material uploaded here in this blog.
But I do not have any right over the Textbooks and workbooks as they are copyrighted materials. You need to buy those books inshaaAllah.

Sir, Do you have any idea about Sharjah school’s summer holiday Ministry schedule?
Eagerly waiting to book the ticket. Seeking your kind suggestion.

    • Wa alaikumus salam wa rahmatullah.
Subhanallaah, this question is difficult to answer as far as Sharjah is concerned 🙂
The last date given to us thro’ an earlier Ministry Announcement is 6th July 2017, and the reopening day for teachers for the next academic year is 3rd September 2017….Wallaahu ‘Alam.

  47. Assalamu Alaikum
Sir I study in Grade 10 and i have Edexcel exams as well as MOE exams
Do we have both Arabic and Tarbiyah Islamiyah as a non arabic student and if so which book and syllabus as i cant understand the Arabic written in the pdf file

  48. Good day everyone! I am a Social Studies in Dubai. Can someone help me to have a copy of syllabus/curriculum of UAE Social Studies in English translation because the link given by the KHDA is in Arabic. Thank you so much.

    • this portion is incomplete.
inshaaAllah, we are expecting the update syllabus from the Ministry soon.

Please check with your school authorities to introduce the books or not.
If you are in Sharjah, you need to check with the Edn. Zone as well whether they will have Ministry Exam from the new books or the old news.

  49. Sir I am teaching in Ajman. We have to start term 1 in our school from April. I downloaded islamic studies syllabus which link you have given but couldn’t understand that how many top we have to teach I didn’t ask before because you were looking very busy. If you have done some division of syllabus, please share it.May Allah give you reward in Duniya and Akhirah.

    • As per the Arabic speakers books, it is mentioned in the Ministry website that Unit 1 and 2 is for 1st term….unit 3 and 4 for 2nd term and unit 5 and 6 for 3rd term.
we started in January with unit 3 as it was our second term.
If you need full syllabus, we have to wait for the official syllabus.
      Baarakallahu feek

  50. Assalamu Alaikum warahamathullahi wabarakathahu.
According to the new textbook Islamic Education now since Part 1 and Part 2 are there, How many classes/periods do you think must be given to each teacher to teach. Around 6 units and 30 chapters. Will the teachers be able to cover all the chapters within 2 periods/ week. If they have to teach within the 2 periods, then can they complete 1 chapter per week? 1 Quran chapter and 1 lesson at least? Some teachers have this query. Please advice.
    Jazak Allah Khairan Katheera.

    • Wa alaikumus salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu.
      1. There are no doubt about 30 lessons per grade. How will we complete all the lessons is a big question.
      2. We follow this system of periods per week per grade:
      Grade 1-4 : 4 periods
      Grade 5-9: 3 periods
      Grade 10-11: 2 periods
We are not able to cover the portion especially for grades 5-9 even though we have 3 periods per week.
      3. 2 periods/week is impossible for the syllabus to be completed. yet, there are Cbse schools who are forced to have 2 periods, and are struggling hard to cover the portion.
      4. The content of each lesson is also too lengthy. So we have to skip certain passages as this is the only option left with available time at our disposal. Completing one lesson per week, whether it is Qur’an related or otherwise, only is possible. Two lessons cannot be completed in a week.
      5. Hope this helps.
      Jazakillaahu Khayra.

      • Assalamu Alaikum warahamathullahi wabarakathahu.
Jazak Allah Khairan Katheera for your valuable reply, Sir.
As per your suggestion skipping few passages, but all lessons must be taught/completed? Will it be possible, Sir, with 2 periods/week.
        Few more doubts.
When will the schools get the new books? The CBSE schools have still not received the new books. Teachers have started to teach from Soft copy of the books. But for students to learn without books is difficult.
Can we use your Appendix on Practical way of Understanding Quran for our students in the school portal for the benefit of our Muslim students? We will add reference as used from this particular website.
        Jazak Allah Khairan Katheera.

        • Wa alaikumus salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu.
If you are teaching in Sharjah school, then most of the lessons must be taught as students have End of Year Ministry Exam. Where are you teaching, may I know.
If you are in other emirate then you can skip some lessons.
Receiving the books, after placing order with the MoE portal, is taking time. But there is no other go. We have to wait. You can please call up and ask about the status of your order or even send email through your school’s official website and seek details of the status.
Till the time you receive the books, you can upload notes on your school website and ask the students to download and study.
About Appendix on the Practical way of Understanding Qur’an, you are always welcome to use resources from this site. No issue at all. Baarakallaah.

  51. Assalamu Alaikum warahamathullahi wabarakathahu.
I’m not teaching but I’m newly appointed HOD of Islamic Studies in a CBSE Dubai School. AlhamduLillah. Since it’s the first year of my work and new textbook I have few queries.
Jazak Allah Khairan Katheera for your timely answers. If I have any query will write to you for your valuable answers.

can you please send me the Grade 3 Book/ chapters … Thanks.

    Muhammed rafeeq

  54. Assalamu alaikum!

I was wondering if there is any way we can request to have a syllabus as the ones we used to receive earlier-with a limited number of lessons- so we can complete the portions better?

The Ministry used to give us a syllabus till 2013 which did not cover all the lessons in the textbook. This made it possible for us to peacefully complete within the time. However, we are now given the syllabus for Ministry exam only by February. Though this includes only a portion of the textbook, it is risky to skip any chapter as we never know which would be included in the exam syllabus.
We too have only 2 periods/week for higher classes.
I work in a CBSE school in Sharjah.

  55. Assalam-o-Alaikum

  57. Assalamu Alaikum warahamathullahi wabarakathahu!

First for all thank you for your continuously support you are offering us its really appreciated .
I would like to know that whether we need to teach all lesson from new curriculum of (NON ARAB) books or we can choose some of them.
2nd thing can we teach some thing which is not included in the curriculum to enrich the curriculum.

    • wa alaikumus salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu.
      Both option are possible.
For primary grades, we can skip certain lessons to fit the number of weeks we are working.
If you are in Sharjah, then teaching all lessons becomes mandatory.
