  1. Assalamualaikum
    Dear Sir,
My son now in Grade 9 in an International School and we are confused either to study Islamic Studies or Islamiyat. The school is offering both subjects for the students without any detailed for the purposes to take either of the subjects. we are Arabic tongue speakers and our country selection to the universities are subject to Arabic language and Islamic mainly then the other subjects. please advice which one is suitable for our son
    Jazak Allah khair in advance

    • Dear Brother,
Wa alaikumus Salam Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu.

Studying ‘Islamic Studies’ is compulsory in UAE. Whereas you study ‘Islamiyat’ by your option/choice.
If the school is offering both, then it means that there is an option for your son to opt for ‘Islamiyat’ as a cambridge subject. The other ‘Islamic Studies’ is the prescribed one by the UAE Ministry for all schools to teach it compulsorily.

If choosing Islamiyat is going to help your son in future in his higher studies, then opting for it is a good choice.

‘Islamiyat’ is offered by the Cambridge in English language only.

Hope this clarifies your doubt, inshaAllah.

PS: I would add one thing here. Cambridge also offers Arabic as First Language. If this is going to help in your country (as you are native Arabic speaker) then you can ask your son’s school to allow him to take the Arabic subject.

  2. Asalamu Aleikum brother. I am asking if I can opt for Islamiyat as an IGCSE subject. My school requires us to study Islamic Studies as a MoE subject, so it’s compulsory. But my school don’t normally have students sitting for IGCSE Islamiyat exam. Can I still sit for IGCSE Islamiyat examination at May/June 2019?

    • wa alaikumus salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu. Yes you can opt. The school must allow you to appear on your own. They must accept the Exam fees etc. for Islamiyat and permit you to sit for the exam in your school even though you are the only student who’s going to write the exam, inshaaAllah.
Please don’t confuse yourself with MoE Islamic Education subject…that is compulsory for everyone in UAE but has nothing to do with IGCSE. Hope this helps. Baarakallaah.

  3. Assalam o Alikum Sir can you tell me that these islamiyat notes is also for the book code 2058 or it is just for the above prescribed codes only

      • Hi,

I’m in U.K. and need to buy the teacher book and have it delivered to me can you please email me a link… I’m not able to go Dubai and buy a book!

        • Please contact the Book Distributors in UK…you will get all the related books there itself.
By the way, as this Blog is based in UAE, i mentioned about Dubai. It would be funny to tell people to come to Dubai and buy a book! 🙂

    • Presently, we are undergoing the stress of online teaching which we don’t know how long it will take.
InShaaAllah, we can discuss about this sometime later as your concern is for September onwards.
